Fuzzy Constrained Optimal Power Dispatch for Competitive Electricity and Ancillary Services Markets

This article proposes a fuzzy constrained optimal power dispatch (FCOPD) algorithm for electricity and ancillary services markets. The FCOPD problem is decomposed into social welfare fuzzy maximization subproblem, which is solved by the mixed-integer fuzzy linear programming (MIFLP) and real power loss minimization subproblem, which is solved by the linear programming (LP). In the social welfare fuzzy maximization subproblem, the line flow limit constraints and ancillary services requirements are treated in a soft computing manner by the fuzzy constraints. The proposed FCOPD algorithm is tested on the modified IEEE 30 bus system with six generator companies (GenCos) bidding to sell the electricity and ancillary services. The social welfares of the FCOPD are shown to be higher than crisp constrained optimal power dispatch in both competitive electricity price (CEP) and competitive electricity and ancillary services price (CEASP) schemes.
