Self-reported anthropometry

A short study of the relation between self-reported estimates of height and weight and their measured values is presented. In two male groups, height was found to be significantly overestimated by 10·1 and 14·7 mm, respectively. Weight was significantly underestimated by 1·1 and 1·3 kg. Further analyses suggested that the tendency to underestimate weight increased with increasing measured body weight. Possible implications for ergonomists are considered.
