A Comparison of Two English Versions of Ru Meng Ling

In literary translation, different translators will produce different versions. As to the quality of these versions, opinions differ on the viewpoint of evaluation. Systemic-Functional grammar is employed in this paper to compare and analyze two different English versions of Ru Meng Ling by Li Qingzhao, a poetess in the Song Dynasty, from their thematic structures and SL information. It is held that the versions should be consistent with the thematic structure of the source text to avoid the loss of original information in the process of translation.
