Chapter 6. Additional Resources and Final Remarks

Chapter 6 of Library Technology Reports (vol. 53, no. 2), “Information Visualization” Both researchers and library mangers contemplate about who needs to be trained and informed on information visualization within the library community. The answer is simple—everyone, as every person in that environment has a role to fill that will ultimately be impacted by information visualization. The use of this tool makes it easier than it has previously been to obtain and gather sufficient knowledge and insights. The ability to be advised on the form that trends can take, the existing patterns that can be learned from, and all other sources of information that is valuable for current activities all exist when acceptance and understanding of the nuances of information visualization exist. Chapter 6 of Library Technology Reports (vol. 53, no. 3), “Information Visualization,” discusses some of the resources that libraries could use in implementing information visualization training and concludes with author Hsuanwei Michelle Chen’s final thoughts on the importance of information visualization and its future role in the library profession.
