tRNA gene number and codon usage in the C. elegans genome are co-adapted for optimal translation of highly expressed genes.

I warmly thank T.M. Lowe for providing me the results of his analyses of tRNA genes contents in C. elegans genome. I thank M. Gouy for his helpful comments and G. Marais for his suggestion about the relationship between the frequency of tRNA genes and dosage compensation on the X chromosome.
