Asymptotic results for slipping complete frictional contacts

The order of singularity at the edge of a complete slipping contact depends on the material combination, the wedge angle, the coefficient of friction, and the relative direction of slip. Additionally, for a given coefficient of friction, slipping in one direction alleviates the stress state whilst slipping in the other direction, exacerbates it. However, it is known that there are material combinations for which the response cited above reverses. This paper investigates the boundary delimiting these different responses, and highlights some useful results.
