Effects of atmospheric boundary layer moisture on friction velocity with implications for SAR imagery

Using computer simulations, it is shown that failure to consider water vapor effects may lead to anomalous friction velocity changes with static stability. When interpreting synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imagery showing sea surface features induced by marine boundary layer spanning eddies, consideration should be given to the effects of water vapor.
