Psychological Stressors, Overview

A wide variety of circumstances and conditions can be subsumed within the general class of psychological stressors. Historical perspectives and conceptual considerations are reviewed, along with important and challenging issues for defining and assessing psychological stressors. Characteristics of psychological stressors and individual differences in susceptibility to psychological stressors are also discussed.
