TRAFFIC FORECASTS FOR INTERURBAN NETWORKS IN REAL-TIME

This paper reports on the results achieved during the first year of the project DYNA whose aim is to develop, implement, apply and evaluate a practical model system to provide forecasts of traffic flows, in real time, and travel times for interurban motorway networks. Results have been obtained with respect to the formulation of the overall model system architecture, the choice of the methods to be used, the implementation of initial prototypes of the models, and the technical issues required for realization of the system.
