Induction machine rapid performance tests

This paper proposes a novel technique that can significantly reduce the time required for induction machines full-load performance test by using the direct dynamometer tests of IEEE Std 112-B. The proposed technique needs only 30-min of a machine run under the full-load condition. The temperature-speed linear relationship is utilized in this research work to reduce the testing time. The accuracy of the proposed algorithm is validated by testing two small- and one medium-sized machines. The results show acceptable level of accuracy when they are compared to the corresponding 8-hour tests conducted on the same machines. The technique can save time and cost spent on the well-established dynamometer tests.
