THE FLOODING TRANSITION WITH GASSED RUSHTON TURBINES

The flooding transition of a Rushton turbine operating in a gas-liquid system has been investigated. A clear definition for the phenomenon has been given. A relation has been derived from a theoretical analysis and has been confirmed by experiments in various vessels up to 1.2 m diameter. The results predict gas flow rates for the Occurrence of flooding that are higher than those found in literature. This has provisionaly been explained in terms of the gas sparger geometries used.
