Performance analysis of the adaptive projection receiver for joint detection of CDMA

The performance of the adaptive projection receiver (PR), a previously proposed joint detector for CDMA with error control coding, is investigated. It is shown that the adaptive version of the PR performs better than the algebraic PR as well as the modified PR. A close approximation of the error probability for the adaptive PR is derived. The performance improvement of the adaptive PR, which is of the order of 1-2 dB in E/sub b//N/sub 0/ for moderately loaded CDMA systems over the algebraic PR is shown and demonstrated by simulation.
