Confidence interval constraint for Dual-Hop Semi-Blind AF relaying system

In this paper, we study the confidence interval for average amplification gain in a symmetric Dual-Hop Semi-Blind (DHSB) amplify-and-forward (AF) relaying system. This system uses the local mean of instantaneous signal-to-noise ratio (SNRi) in the first hop which is estimated by averaging over a certain number of samples. Outage probability is calculated on average of the number of blocks since relay selection proceeds on a block basis. Numerical analyses of the outage probabilities and the bit-error-rate (BER) performance demonstrate the confidence interval constraint for realizing DHSB AF relaying using a modified partial relay selection as previous publication. Furthermore, our scheme shows a marginal performance difference compared to perfect semi-CSI assisted relaying that enables to quantify the performances for average amplification gain in practical implementation via specifying the confidence interval. As a consequence, our proposed scheme provides a quick calculation of average length for the AF relaying gain factor.
