Online Artifact Detection in EEG Using Simple Digital Signal Processing’s Procedures

This paper presents algorithms for online auto-matic detection of artifacts in EEG recordings of adults and infants obtained through a heuristic methodology. The algorithm’s bases are basic digital signal processing procedures. For parameters adjustment we use ROC curves analysis. The algorithm was implemented in MatLab and the results evaluated on 310 segments of 10s and 20 EEG recordings. Values of sensitivity and selectivity exceed 80% and the obtained execution time 60 ms results valid for online detection.
