Wind angle effects in glass fibre-reinforced polyester filament wound pipes

Abstract Filament wound pipes, constructed from a corrosion resistant polyester resin and glass fibres wound at six different wind angles, were tested under biaxial pressure loading, hoop pressure loading and tensile loading. A stress/strain response was obtained for each pipe and the results compared with those predicted by classical lamination theory. Good agreement between theory and experiment was obtained using the three different loading cases.
