Reliability Integrated Engineering Using Physics of Failure

Reliability is the ability of a product to perform without failure and within specified performance limits, for a specified time, in its life-cycle application conditions. Physics of failure is the preferred methodology to design for and assess product reliability. This article presents the concept and underlying principles of physics of failure and shows how the methodology is used as an integrated product development method to develop, assess, and enhance product reliability. Keywords: physics of failure; reliability; failure mechanisms; failure modes
