Improved analysis of the outage performance in cellular systems

The performance of cellular systems is studied, in terms of average and worst-case outage probability. The approach is based on a new analysis which allows one to take into account the assignment of a mobile to the most favorable cell site, instead of the closest one. Other features, such as power control and diversity, are included, and the sensitivity of the performance to the fading parameter is studied. The study of the outage performance of the TDMA cellular system can be used for the computation of the interference statistics, by taking into account features such as log-normal shadowing, deterministic path loss, power control and best cell site selection.
