Spiking Reflective Processing Model for Stress-Inspired Adaptive Robot Partner Applications

Inareal-worldenvironment,asocialrobotisconstantlyrequiredtomakemanycriticaldecisionsin anambiguousanddemanding(stressful)environment.Hence,abiologicalstressresponsesystem modelisagoodgaugeindicatortojudgewhentherobotshouldreacttosuchenvironmentandadapt itselftowardstheenvironmentchanges.ThisworkistoimplementtheSmerek’sreflectiveprocessing modelintohuman-robotcommunicationapplicationwherereflectiveprocessingistriggeredduring suchsituationswherethebestactionisnotknown.Theauthorswanttoinvestigatehowtoaddress betterthehuman-robotcommunicationproblemswiththefocusonreflectiveprocessingmodelin theperspectivesofworkingmemory,SpikingNeuralNetwork(SNN)andstressresponsesystem. TheauthorshadappliedtheirproposedSpikingReflectiveProcessingmodelforthehuman-robot communicationapplicationinauniversitypopulation.Theinitialexperimentalresultsshowedthe positiveattitudechangesbeforeandafterthehuman-robotinteractionexperiment.
