Fingerprint verification based on wavelet and edge detection

Fingerprint verification has been researched for many years, but there are still a lot of problems that we have to further resolve, such as the recognition rate and speed. In this paper, we proposed a new fingerprint verification method with application of wavelet transform and prewitt operator. The method is image-based and solves the difficulties caused by the noise, and the transition of fingerprints in position, scale, angle and so on. Wavelet transform has a good noise resistance, and prewitt operator is invariant to translation, rotation and scale, the integration of them can greatly improve the performance of the verification. And the experiment results also show that the method is definitely effective and has a low computation complexity.
