Wood Characteristics of Sexually and Vegetatively Reproduced Pinus radiata

Grafted ramets derived from mature ortets and open-pollinated seedling offspring of the same ortets, of the same age and growing under the same conditions, were sampled at two localities. Significant differences in ring width, average tracheid length and densitometric parameters were observed in the wood from the ramets and the open-pollinated progenies. It is suggested that these differences are due to the effects of cyclophysis. These findings generally supported a preliminary investigation dealing with differences observed between ortets and their associated ramets.
