ANALYSIS OF NON-LINEAR VIBRATION OF DRIVE TRAIN FOR HEAVY DUTY VEHICLE

The rattling noises caused by torsional vibration of drive train are investigated experimentally using the heavy duty vehicle installed diesel engine and simulator consisting of hydraulic spinning torsional actuator and components of drive train. The equations of motion (three and four degrees of freedom) including the non-linear characteristics due to the mechanical play and friction force are derived. The theoretical results are proved to be satisfied for the analysis and evaluation of the torsional vibration of drive train. This makes possible the determination of the parameter values of drive train components at the design stage. (Author/TRRL)
