New Organizational Model for Hospitals in the New Technology Context

This chapter discusses the need for a new hospital organization model to be able to manage its own technology. The various tasks and functions, currently required, suggest a branch of technology in charge of integrated Healthcare Technology Management (HTM) system, with three main activities: management of HTM program characterized by analysis and design, operative management to attend routine tasks, and applied research and training to ensure improvement of the quality of the technology used. The chapter develops the detailed process maps according to ISO 9000 and EFQM, in addition to proposing a chart of activities indicating the positions and functions distribution.
