Design & Ireplementation of ATM Traffic Control Technique

dbstract A simple and effective ATM traffic control technique is proposed for the stepwise VBR traffic sources and the design and implementation aspects of this ATM traffic control technique is considered. Although many interesting traffic control algorithms have been introduced, these methods are very difficult to implement and have a burden of hardware complexities. The proposed cell control algorithm proves to be successful and is thought to be nice considering that the primary roles of ATM traffic control algorithms and resource management schemes are to provide satisfactory quality of services to B-ISDN users, achieve high statistical multiplexing gain and protect the network elements from being congested in order to achieve network performance objectives. It can be therefore adopted as an ATM cell control technique at the first deployment of the B-ISM.
