Corner rounding for increased quality factor of cavity resonators

In this paper, it is shown, that the quality factor of cavity resonators can be increased through proper arrangement of corner roundings. To overcome numerical uncertainties of the Q-factor calculation, parametric sweeps and polynomial curve fitting are applied. A corresponding analysis is performed for combline resonators and filters by introduction of a base rounding. As a result, the Q-factor is increased by 5%.
