Dynamic Voltage Collapse Index— Wind Generator Application

Wind-driven induction generators are popular due to their robust construction and performance. They are typically connected to a distribution system through a feeder and may cater to a local load of comparable size. Wind characteristics are unpredictable, sometimes causing large bursts of power flow. During such bursts, the feeder voltage regulation is problematic, possibly leading to a collapse. A robust collapse indicator, with the least possible local measurements, located at the sending or receiving end of the feeder, is desirable to operate protective equipment. This paper presents an implementation of such a dynamic voltage collapse indicator. Simulation results are included to demonstrate the versatility of the proposed method
