Principal component analysis based on drive cycles for hybrid electric vehicle

This paper presents the method of principal component analysis (PCA) to study the characteristics of different drive cycles. The vehicular performance of hybrid electric bus is simulated and then the relationship between different hybridization factors and vehicular fuel economy and dynamic performance is analyzed. The simulation results of fuel economy over different cycles have been obtained in ADVISOR. Using principal component analysis, it can be concluded that three most important principal components can be used as inputs to design an intelligent vehicular control strategy.
