Synthesis techniques for retrofitting heat recovery systems

The synthesis technique is a proven methodology for retrofitting heat recovery systems. The task of targeting payout is incorporated into the design procedure by using the Hextran program to generate network alternatives with corresponding economics. The parameters used to control the final design include the exchanger minimum approach temperature (EMAT) to generate networks with exchanger approach temperatures less than the network approach temperature (HRAT) used to set the heat recovery level.
