Dimensions of Satisfaction in Teleconferencing: An Exploratory Analysis

The results of exploratory analyses of data gathered on communication satisfaction in an experimental study on teleconferencing are reported. Factor analyses were done to examine the dimensions underlying the satisfaction construct. Factors that were statistically supported were further examined for role-related (speaker vs. listener) differences and for correlations among the identified factors. The exploration suggests that satisfaction with technology may be lower than overall satisfaction for both speakers and listeners. Speaker satisfaction with technology is lower than listener satisfaction with technology. Possible interpretations of the results are offered. The results emphasize the need for further research into the dimensions underlying the satisfaction construct. >
