Teaching Korean pronunciation in other countries often begins with understanding of the sound system of foreign learners" mother tongue. In other words, phonemic awareness of teachers can be an important tool to teach Korean pronunciation for Korean learners. By using this phonemic knowledge, this study attempts to present a better method for teaching Korean pronunciation to Thai native speakers who major in Korean at college. To teach Korean pronunciation more effectively, teachers must pay attention to phonemic differences and similarities between Korean and Thai sound system. This paper tries to show how effectively we can teach the pronunciation of "ㄱ, ㅈ, ㅅ", which do not exist in Thai. Basically by making use of the relationship of consonantal triplets(lax consonants, tense consonants, aspirated consonants) which include plosives, affricates and fricatives in Korean and Thai sound system. And about teaching Korean vowels, we need focus on diphthongs. In addition, some basic phonological phenomenons of Korean that Korean learners should know were presented by way of regularization.
