Load Current Feedforward Control Method for Modular Multilevel DC Converter

To improve the response speed of the converter when the load changes, so that the converter is better used in precision equipment production and other occasions requiring high output voltage performance, the control method of dynamic performance optimization is studied for the operation control of MMC-H bridge DC converter in this paper. Firstly, the transmission power model of MMC-H bridge converter based on staircase modulation is established when there are N submodules in a half bridge. Secondly, based on the transmission power model, a novel power-based current feedforward control method is proposed. Finally, the simulation is carried out by taking four submodules of half bridge as an example. The response of the proposed control method, voltage closed-loop control and traditional current feedforward control are compared to verify the superiority of power-based current feedforward control.
