Transient Stability Analysis of Virtual Synchronous Generator Connected to an Infinite Bus

Virtual synchronous generator (VSG) imitates the swing equation of a real synchronous generator (SG) to provide inertia and damping for the utility grid. Therefore, similar to SG, VSG may also lose transient stability under large disturbances. This paper establishes a second-order model of a single-VSG connected to an infinite bus and proposes multiperiod analysis theory (MPAT) of transient stability. Moreover, the influence of system parameters on transient stability is studied. Finally, the effectiveness of theoretical analysis is validated by simulation.
