An Iverian (Furongian, Cambrian) Trilobite Faunule from the Subsurface Warburton Basin, South Australia

A small trilobite fauna from Coongie 1 drillhole, Warburton Basin, South Australia, is the first to be described from this entirely subsurface basin. It comprises the agnostoids Oncagnostus (Oncagnostus) sp. cf. O. hoi (Sun, 1924), Oncagnostus (Strictagnostus) sp. and Neoagnostus sp. cf. N. clavus (Shergold, 1972) plus the polymerid Warburtonella coongiensis gen. et sp. nov. Correlation to the northern Australian biostratigraphic scheme is with the post-Irvingella tropica Zone part of the Iverian. Correlation with North China is within the Shirakiella xiaoshienensis or Kaolishania Zones of the Furongian (late Cambrian).
