Reconfigurable spiral antenna array for pattern diversity in wideband MIMO communication systems

A reconfigurable spiral antenna was employed in a MIMO system and its performance was analyzed in terms of channel capacity. The results show that a reconfigurable spiral array antenna system derives significant improvements over non reconfigurable antenna arrays. The bandwidth of the antenna and its compact size makes it a suitable candidate for use in compact wideband MIMO systems. Future work will concentrate on increasing the bandwidth of the antenna to make it appropriate for use in UWB MIMO communications.
