Up link signal receiving apparatus and method of multiuser detection using successive interference cancellation in wireless ofdma system

A method and an apparatus for receiving an uplink signal using a successive interference cancellation scheme in a wireless OFDMA(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access) system are provided to improve the operation reliability of the OFDMA system by using a successive interference cancellation scheme and to improve the reception performance of a base station due to reducing interference of sub-carrier wave of each terminal. A temporary memory(100) temporarily stores an uplink IF(Intermediate Frequency) signal, which is received through an antenna of a base station. The received signal is converted to the uplink IF signal. A terminal selector(200) selects a data symbol for a terminal to be modulated from the uplink IF signals, which are stored in the temporary memory. A DSP(Digital Signal Processor)(300) converts the data symbol, selected at the terminal selector, from a time domain to a frequency domain, compensates for the converted data symbol, and demodulates the result into a raw data. A symbol restoring unit(400) restores the demodulated raw data to a data symbol of a corresponding terminal, removes a data symbol from the corresponding terminal from the uplink IF signal, and updates the temporary memory using the uplink IF signal.
