NET EFFICIENCY SIMULATIONS OF COMPACT ROTARY COMPRESSORS FOR ITS OPTIMAL PERFORMANCE

This paper presents calculations for the net efficiency of the rolling-piston type rotary compressors with the suction volume from 2.5 cm3 to 10.26 cm3, which is composed of the compression, mechanical and volumetric efficiencies. A special attention was paid to calculate the compression efficiency, which is significantly determined by the heat transfer from the high temperature circumstances outside the compression mechanism into the compression chamber, through the thrust plates. Calculations were made for a number of combinations of the cylinder inner radius, the piston radius and the cylinder depth for each suction volume. Conclusively, the possible optimal value of the net efficiency and the optimal design values of the cylinder inner radius, the piston radius and the cylinder depth are presented, for a representative case of the mechanical friction and the gas leakage.
