This paper focuses on the use of microwaves to measure the presence of minute amounts of diffused moisture in dielectric materials of which composites are but one example. The presence of such moisture is thought to be a diagnostic indicator of the structural integrity and aging of composites. The chief objective here is to demonstrate the feasibility of using an open-ended coaxial resonator to monitor moisture.
