Copper-Catalysed N-Alkynylation of Benzimidazoles and Indazoles

We have successfully shown that readily available vinyl dibromides in combination with copper catalysis are especially effi cient and useful reagents for the alkynylation of benzimidazoles and indazoles. This process allows the direct and straightforward synthesis of a variety of heterocyclic ynamines, which are otherwise difficult to access and which may provide interesting platforms in drug discovery and material science as well.
