Analysis of Multi-Antenna Small Cell Networks Modeled by Gauss–Poisson Process

This letter adopts a Gauss–Poisson process to characterize the network topology of small cells with multiuser MIMO. We derive an approximate expression and an asymptotic result for area spectral efficiency (ASE) of the network. With the help of the asymptotic result, we study the impact of different system parameters on ASE. It is observed that ASE increases with the number of antennas, and there exists an optimal number of scheduled users to maximize ASE when the number of antennas is fixed. Besides, the analytical results indicate that both ASE and the optimal number of scheduled users decreases as the cluster probability increases. Simulation results confirm the accuracy of our derivations and are consistent with the theoretical analysis.
