New method of analysis and performance prediction for thyristor voltage-controlled RL loads

A new method of analysis of thyristor voltage-controlled RL loads is described, based upon power considerations. Use of the thyristor conduction angle as the independent variable is shown to yield the most direct and efficient computation of performance. Purely resistive and inductive loads are covered as special cases. The 3-phase circuit with antiparallel thyristors is considered in detail as an example and its general characteristics are given.
