Abstract A quartz deformable pressure-controlled mirror with a wide range of the focal length control and high optical quality is proposed for the thermal lens compensation in the resonator of a solid-state laser. An increase of the output beam radiant intensity with ratio ≅ 10–15 was obtained without decrease of the output power after thermal lens correction in a 25 W YAlO 3 :Nd 3+ laser
