Intramyocardial lipoma

A 52-year-old female had a history of autoimmune hepatitis for which an abdominal computed tomography (CT) was performed. The CT incidentally detected an abnormal mass in the left ventricle. A contrast-enhanced CT revealed a low-density (approximately −100 Hounsfield) tumor in the left ventricular apex (Figure 1A). Echocardiography showed a mobile tumor of 35 × 19mm (Figure 1B) and magnetic resonance imaging showed that the tumor area was comprised almost entirely of lipid tissue (Figure 1C). The tumor was completely resected through a left ventriculotomy (Figure 1D and E), and the histology was consistent with a cardiac lipoma.
