A real-time WirelessSensorNetworkfortemperature monitoring

In thepast, several approaches havebeen proposed toemployWireless SensorNetworksindistributed control environment. Theaimistoexploit advantages asmobility andscalability, buttheir diffusion islimited byreliability and predictability requirements. Inparticular, event-driven protocols usually adoptedin standardsolutions (asIEEE802.11 or IEEE802.15.4) arenotwellsuited forindustrial applications. In this paper, authors propose anhybrid approach thatensures time deadlines respect bymeansofa TDMA allocation schemaand utilizes CSMA/CA for networkmanagementpurposes. Experimental prototypes, basedonCOTS hardware, havebeen realized toverify thefeasibility ofthissolution. A starnetwork withup to16nodesanda cycletimeof128ms hasbeen implemented inordertomonitor thefluid temperature inplastic machineries.
