Unification of two contrasting models of the visual incremental threshold

Abstract Two models of the threshold behaviour of the visual system towards transient incremental stimuli, the one linear and the other non-linear, are shown to be special cases of a more general stochastic model. Their relative merits can thereby be assessed.
