Measuring Bit Errors, Clock Errors and Their Burst Characteristics in Mobile Communication Systems

Because of some imperfections of conventional bit error measurement systems, when applied to mobile radio investigations, a specially developed system has been used. This system meets very well the requirements for mobile radio applications and has even the ability to detect imperfections of the clock recovery. In contrast to earlier published measurements with the system, which have been performed in mobile use, laboratory test measurements are presented in this paper. They show some characteristics of bit errors and clock errors and especially their interdependencies.
