In October 2002, "International Standard Banking Practice for the Examination of Documents under Documentary Credits(ISBP)" was approved in Rome and as the result the ISBP was published in January 2003. The ISBP has 200 Paragraphs to explain in great details as a supplement to the UCP 500 in order to reduce the number of discrepancies in the first presentation. In this paper, I reviewed the examination standards of bills of exchange under the ISBP. The ISBP provides for the examination standards such as tenor, maturity date, banking days, grace days, delays in remittance, endorsement, amounts, drawing draft, corrections and alterations and opinions of the ICC Banking Commission. By using the examination standards for drafts under the ISBP, the traders will be able to prepare documentation more perfectly and accurately and the banks, document checkers, will also be able to examine the drafts more easily and efficiently. Therefore, the ISBP will be provided a useful guide line for banks and traders and it might be able to reduce discrepancy rate of the drafts and to prevent disputes resulted from the discrepancies of the drafts.
