The construction of multi-state life tables: comments on the article by Willekens et al
暂无分享,去创建一个
Summary The basic step in the construction of multi-space life tables is the computation of the probabilities of transition, for a cohort, based on the observed occurrence/exposure rates. It is shown in this article that the formula described by Willekens et al. for this purpose (Population Studies, 1982) can lead to unreasonable results. An alternative formula, based on more realistic assumptions, is presented. An extension of this formula which allows for the analysis of multi-state mortality by cause of death is also given.
