A phase-locked loop using a 1*2 optical switch is proposed as a high-frequency optical clock regenerator. A 1*2 LiNbO/sub 3/ optical switch and two photodetectors with a low-pass filter are used as a phase comparator. The pull-in and hold-in ranges are measured at the input clock frequency of 5 GHz using the switch with an 8 GHz bandwidth. Operation at 14 GHz is demonstrated.<<ETX>>
