Electric vehicles-pursuing efficiency

The approaches being used to make electric vehicles (EVs) highly efficient given the limitations of EV batteries are described. They include reducing vehicle weight, aerodynamic drag, tire rolling resistance, and bearing friction; eliminating brake drag; and increasing the efficiency of the electric motor and its control electronics. The intrinsic efficiency of electric motors and the choice of power electronics are discussed. Energy management and the use of regenerative braking are examined.<<ETX>>
