Papers presented at the conference represented views on a wide range of impact and crashworthiness topics involving different types of materials and structures. The main keynote addresses were presented as follows: Research at NASA on Crash Dynamics (Thomson, RG, Carden, HD and Hayduk, RJ); Scaling of Inelastic Structures Loaded Dynamically (Jones, N); Vehicle Impact and Fire Hazards (Johnson, W); Modelling Ballistic Perforation (Bodner, SR); Dynamic Crack Propagation in Brittle and Ductile Materials (Kobayashi, AS); Impact and Crashworthiness of Composite Structures (Dorey,G); and, Numberical Techniques and Experimental Validations for Industrail Applications (De Rouvray, A, Arnaudeau, F, Dubois, J, Chemdmail, JF and Hauge, e). Conference papers were also presented in the following sections: numerical modelling; impact modelling; experimental methods; fluid-structure interaction; blast and ballistics; composites; energy absorption; concrete structures; fracture of concrete; concrete installations; aircraft impact; and, automobile and rail transport.
