Experimental research on identification of oil-film dynamic coefficients of large-size journal bearings

By using the characteristic that the journal bearing-rotor system during high-speed dynamic balancing are working similarly with the actual working condition of the whole machine set, and also the support stiffness of the bearing pedestal of balancing machine are changeable, a method is presented to identify the oil-film dynamic coefficients of journal bearings based on balancing experiment. This method does not need any additional excitation and thinks about the influences of the vibration mass on the experimental results. Furthermore, it solves the problem in identifying the dynamic coefficients of large-size journal bearings. This method is verified by the test data of a 300 MW turbo-generator. The results prove that this method is feasible and has much value in engineering applications.
